New Energy Architectural Scale Model, 2000 x 1500 mm

This new energy architectural scale model was built for an integrated energy supply programme that had to be explained to investors, planning officials and the operating teams who would eventually run the site. At 2000 x 1500 mm it compresses hydrogen production, solar generation, battery storage and the end-use campus into one continuous landscape, so a visitor can follow a single electron or a single hydrogen molecule from source to load in under a minute. The brief was not decoration: the client needed a review tool that could survive being pointed at during a four-hour technical meeting.

What the new energy architectural scale model shows

The site is divided into four readable zones, each built as a removable module so the model can be updated when the master plan changes. On other projects this modular approach has saved clients a full rebuild; here it means the electrolyser block can be swapped for a larger unit without touching the solar field or the terminal area.

Hydrogen production module

The electrolyser hall, water treatment skid, compression package and buffer storage are modelled at a consistent scale with visible pipe runs. Cable trays and safety signage are reproduced at readable size, which matters when a health and safety reviewer is checking separation distances against the model rather than a drawing.

Solar generation and battery storage

Panel rows follow the real pitch and tilt from the layout drawings, with tracker frames on the sections where single-axis tracking was specified. Battery containers sit beside the inverter stations, and the DC and AC routes are shown as separate coloured runs so the electrical architecture is legible without a legend.

Terminal applications

The demand side is where most scale models of this type fall apart. Here the terminal zone carries the charging bays, the industrial offtake connection and the control building, each with interior detail visible through cut-away walls. That detail is what turns a landscape into an argument.

Materials and build method

Every new energy architectural scale model we deliver is built from the same material set, whatever the site. The terrain base is extruded XPS board cut on a CNC router, then hand-sanded to the contours of the site survey. Building shells are ABS, laser-cut and solvent-welded, with acrylic for glazing and etched brass for fine facade and equipment detail. Pipework uses real-diameter brass tube rather than printed approximations, because at this size the eye reads roundness before it reads colour. All paints are acrylic, matt unless a surface is genuinely reflective, and every module is sealed so it can be cleaned without disturbing the finish.

Scale, size and layout planning

A new energy architectural scale model at this size has to be built around the room it will live in, not the other way round. A 2000 x 1500 mm base is the practical ceiling for a model that has to be carried through a standard double door and displayed on a 2 m table. On this footprint, 1:100 gives roughly 200 x 150 m of real site; 1:150 covers 300 x 225 m. Most integrated energy campuses need the wider view, which is why the layout was developed at 1:150 with selected zones modelled at 1:75 for equipment legibility.

Item Specification
Overall size 2000 x 1500 mm (custom sizes 1000 mm to 5000 mm available)
Scale 1:100 site / 1:75 equipment zones
Base XPS terrain, aluminium frame, powder-coated plinth
Buildings Laser-cut ABS, acrylic glazing, etched brass detail
Lighting Independent segmented LED control, 4 zones, dimmable
Lead time 25 to 35 working days after drawing freeze

Lighting and control

The lighting is split into four independently switched circuits: generation, storage, terminal and perimeter. Each is dimmable and can run as a static scene or as a slow sequence that walks the viewer through a full production day. The control cabinet is mounted inside the plinth with a single external switch panel, so the model can be operated by reception staff rather than an engineer.

Delivery and after-sales

The finished new energy architectural scale model travels in a foam-lined timber crate with a lifting frame, and ships with a printed maintenance sheet, a spare LED driver and a labelled wiring diagram. Repairs after handover are usually limited to lamp replacement and dust removal; both are documented so the client’s own facilities team can handle them without a service visit.

Questions buyers ask before ordering

How much does a new energy architectural scale model cost?

Price is driven by footprint, number of modules, lighting circuits and the level of equipment detail. A 2000 x 1500 mm model with four lighting zones typically sits in the mid range; adding cut-away interiors or animated flow raises it. We quote a fixed number after drawings are frozen, not a range.

Can the model be updated when the design changes?

Yes. Modules are built as removable units with plug-in lighting, so a revised battery block or an added charging bay can be supplied and swapped on site. Clients who expect two or three design iterations usually order one spare module bay.

How long does it take from order to delivery?

Twenty-five to thirty-five working days after the drawing freeze, plus shipping. Complex cut-away work or animated flow adds roughly a week.

Why clients choose our models

We build industrial and architectural scale models in one factory, so the same team that models a production line also handles the landscape, the buildings, the lighting and the crate. That removes the coordination failure that ruins most multi-vendor projects. For a comparable industrial build, see our case archive; for a quotation, send your drawings through the contact page and we reply within one working day. Background on the technology shown here is available at Energy storage.
