Sailing model production plan
Sailing model production plan
1、 Material selection and preparation
Hull material: Lightweight oak wood (easy to carve and lightweight) is selected, with a thickness controlled at 3-5 millimeters to ensure the stability of small-sized models
Sail material: Made of thin cotton cloth (to avoid heaviness), with a color selection of beige or light gray to simulate the real texture of canvas

Structural components: The mast is made of thin bamboo sticks (with a diameter of about 2 millimeters), and the ropes are made of black nylon thread (with a thickness of 0.5 millimeters)
Adhesive materials: woodworking white glue (suitable for wood bonding) and instant glue (used for quick fixing of small parts)
Coloring tools: Acrylic pigment (strong adhesion), fine brush (000mm hook pen), matte varnish
2、 Detailed explanation of production process flow

- Shipbuilding
Keel making: Draw a keel line diagram at a ratio of 1:150, cut the curved keel with oak strips, and sand it smooth with sandpaper
Ship shell splicing: Use white glue to bond 0.5mm thick oak pieces to the keel, with each piece overlapping by about 2mm to form fish scale like seams
Deck details: Use a laser engraving machine or manually carve the wood grain of the deck, and install a miniature rudder (which can be made of thin plastic sheets) - Sail surface and mast
Canvas processing: Cut the cotton cloth into a trapezoidal sail surface, reinforce the edges with white glue, and sew wrinkled textures on the sail surface with fine needles
Mast installation: Drill a small hole in the middle of the ship, insert a bamboo stick mast, fix it with white glue, and wrap a thin wire to simulate a cable - Detail decoration
Ship decoration: Use toothpicks dipped in white glue to stick micro wooden strips to simulate ship seams
Rope system: A simple rigging network is woven between the mast and the hull using black nylon thread
Small components: Use 0.3mm copper wire to make anchor chains, carve small wooden blocks into lifebuoys
3、 Post processing and coloring techniques - Basic processing
Use 600 grit sandpaper to polish the surface of the model as a whole
Clean the model with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to remove sawdust and dirt - Coloring steps
Bottom color of the ship: Apply a thin layer of ochre colored acrylic pigment, and after drying, use a dark brown dry brush to remove the wood grain
Sail surface treatment: light tea stain staining (lightly tap after soaking in black tea), edge aging treatment
Metal parts: Apply silver acrylic pigment dots and apply oxidation effect locally - Protective layer
Spray matte varnish as a whole to enhance texture and protect color
Key areas (such as decks) can be coated with a thin layer of clear paint to increase gloss contrast
4、 Restoration guarantee measures
Proportional control: Produce all components in a 1:150 ratio
Texture simulation: Restoring wood texture through dry sweeping technique, and distressed canvas treatment
Detail selection: Retain core features (mast, rudder, rigging), simplify micro components
Visual Balance: Enhancing the Stereoscopic Perception of Small Models through Color Contrast
